I just finished reading another book which Paul read. Below are some highlighted phrases which again touched my heart strongly. I tried putting myself in his shoes when he highlighted these phrases and trying to feel what was passing thru his mind at that moment. I know and believe it must have meant alot to him during the time when he was reading it and if it was the time when he was battling with the terminal illness, the words must have given him alot of strength and assurance. The book is by Hank Hanegraaff entitled: "The Prayer of Jesus":
"Prayer is not merely a means of presenting our requests, it is a means of pursuing a relationship with our Heavenly Father."
"prayer becomes a means through which we learn to lean more heavily upon him and less heavily upon ourselves."
(this phrase must be so true to him......)
"For the child of God the hope is not perfect health and happiness in this lifetime but a resurrected body and a heavenly dwelling in the life to come."
Last but not least, the last phrase he highlighted in this book must be what he strived to be since golf was really his life before he knew God:
"As much as i love golf, i love God infinitely more. Golf is a hobby. God is my life. It stands to reason, therefore, that I would put a whole lot more time and effort into learning the principles of praying than learning the principles of playing."
Looking back, i am thankful for everything... though i still miss paul dearly, i have learnt alot from this battle..... I recall how we used to join our hands as husband and wife to pray faithfully to God every night. Though i still do not understand why God chose to take him home instead of healing him but i know paul was truly at peace and believe God definitely has a very good reason to take him home..... well, i just have to learn to live by faith and not by sight....
Amen!
