The month of May 2008 has been a very trying month for me personally. Aunty Jenny has always been a very special aunt to many of us, as many of her nephews and nieces were taken care of by her when we were young. She has always been supporting us in prayer and never forget to remember all of us in her prayer time. Through her fervent prayer, many of our needs have been taken care of. Many of us will always look to her for advice in many areas of our lives and she is not just an aunt to us but also our confidante and our friend whom we can talk to about our secrets, fears, ambition etc etc. Thus we threw a surprise birthday party for her last September to celebrate her 55th birthday. She was moved to tears during that celebration. What we all didn't know was that she was already having discomfort in her abdomen with large fleshy lumps in that area. She kept it from everybody - always tightening her abdomen with belt which added on to the discomfort which she was already suffering. We all didn't notice the bulging tummy but her drastic reduction of weight was what we all noticed. She has always had a very high threshold and visiting doctor is something she won't do. Our Almighty God knows her very well and He showed her signs that a visit to doctor was absolutely necessary in late April 2008. Aunty Jenny on her own visited the Polyclinic for examination and the doctor in the Polyclinic immediately referred her to Changi hospital. She went to Changi Hospital with much anxiety and the doctor that attended to her wanted her to be admitted immediately as she mentioned that the sign was not good and that she feared that the lumps might be malignant and might have spread. Aunty Jenny didn't get herself admitted instead went home and she was given an appointment to see a doctor again on May 7th at Changi Hospital. The appointment date was actually the date that she had prearranged with me to bring her for admission to the Hospital. She kept it from everyone as she didn't want anybody to worry. On 7th May, I went to pick her from home at 9am and brought her to Changi Hospital. As expected, she had to be admitted for thorough examination to be done. CT scan on brain, chest, abdomen and pelvis were done on May 8th. The doctor who attended to her explained and updated us on the CT scan result. Thank God CT brain showed nothing wrong however the other scan result showed large adnexal mass and suspicious for ovarian tumour. Aunty had to be transferred to K K Hospital for follow-up examination the next day which was May 9th. Professor ~(recommended by Paul's doctor) was the Gynaecologist who attended to Aunty Jenny in K K Hospital. On May 10th early morning at 730am Prof met with Aunty Jenny, Lily & myself and was updated on what the next step of treatment would be. Prof told us that he would remove the uterus and ovaries and he mentioned that Aunty may have to carry an external bag for 6 months if the need arised. We told Prof that we would trust his professional judgement. Upon hearing about the external bag issue, Aunty was pretty affected. However, she shared with me and we committed that issue to the Lord believing that this would not be necessary at all. An operation was scheduled on Sunday May 11th at 12pm. Total Hysterectomy was done on Aunty Jenny and many specimens were taken for biopsy. After the operation, at about 345pm Prof called and spoke to me on the phone and updated me on the operation. One good news that we heard was that the external bag issue was not required. But the other news that I received was something that I could no longer be composed but broke down in tears. From the Op it was likely to be Uterine Cancer and that the sign was likely to be advanced. He mentioned that prolonging her life would be what they would do. Upon hearing that, I shared with my family members and a couple of my cousins. We know that we have our Almighty God to call upon when all avenues fail. We all knew that our God is a miracle working God and that there's nothing too great for HIM that He cannot do. From May 11th to May 23rd, many of us including church friends and Pastors prayed with us believing God for a miracle on Aunty Jenny's life. Aunty Jenny was discharged from hospital on May 17th, Saturday and she agreed to come over to our house for recuperation. She wasn't aware of the seriousness of her condition but she had suspected that it would be very serious. The D Day was on May 23rd, Friday. We (Nieer & myself) brought Aunty Jenny for a post-op follow up examination by Prof. Lisa met with us at the Hospital. The 3 of us together with Aunty Jenny went into Prof's clinic and was anxiously waiting to hear the biopsy result. I sat down next to him. He was sorting out the 2 sets of Photographs of the tumours. Sitting there, he said that Aunty Jenny was very lucky and then I said it wasn't lucky but it was a Miracle. I told him that since the operation, many of us had been praying for Aunty for a miracle to happen. He mentioned that he will give us 1 set of the photographs and we can show it to any doctors and upon seeing it, they would have said the same as him. He mentioned that there were 6 tumours -one of which was a huge one and the size was like that of a honeydew. I totally believed in Prof's diagnosis after the op as the other few doctors that had seen Aunty Jenny before the op had said that her condition was very serious. Prof said that all the specimens showed no sign of cancer at all. We were overwhelmed with joy and thankful to God. How can this not be a MIRACLE? To us, this is a MIRACLE for sure. We are grateful to the Lord for his LOVE & mercies on Aunty Jenny's life. Indeed we serve a wonderful, miracle working God. We praise and thank God. Let's share this with as many people as possible.
